Abagail and Toby's flower story
Goodness it’s been two years since I last posted a blog. And what a two years it has been for The Flower Story. There have been so many couples celebrating their love with their families and some very beautiful flowers. We have been on the road flowering up weddings at some gorgeous venues and private homes.
Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing a look at some of them. But first of all I want to start with Toby and Abagail. Like many couples they had to postpone their wedding due to Covid. But when their day eventually came round they celebrated in style.
They chose the lovely family run Huntsmill Farm to hold their wedding. This gorgeous venue with its old stone barn and huge gardens is stunning in the Autumn. And that is exactly when Toby and Abagail got married.
Seasonality is really important to the ethos behind the Flower Story and I always propose using the most beautiful flowers that are available at the time of year. Toby and Abagail really embraced this and so their Autumnal flower palette included hydrangeas, late garden roses, chrysanthemums, berries, dried grasses (shout out to the fluffiest bunny tails) and seedheads. This flower palette echoed the rich dusty colours of the season along with textured neutrals from the bobbing grasses.
Abagail adored flowers and wanted to carry a statement flowery bouquet (my fave) Her bouquet set the scene for the rest of the wedding flowers. Bridesmaid carried complimentary bouquets as they walked down he aisle.
And gorgeous natural arch full of beech branches and flowers framed the couple as they said their vows. If you look closely the window at the top of the ceremony barn at Huntsmill Barn lets in the gentlest Autumnal sun. This cast a gorgeous light over the couple and gave the flowers a real glow.
Long banquet tables were laden with flower filled vases for the wedding breakfast. Two hanging ladders were suspended over the guest tables and decorated with lots of textured foliage and flowers. Bridesmaids bouquets were placed in vases and placed on the windowsills. This gave a super flowery look to their wedding breakfast.
Oh, and Abagail and Toby’s gorgeous dogs made a star appearance. Because after all, everyone loves love and a bit with a dog!
