Lucy and Tom's flower story
Lucy and Tom’s late summer wedding made them perfect candidates to use British and locally grown flowers. Lucy grew up in Bedord and, in a small village called Oakley, there is the most wonderful flower farm, Merri Flowers. Owned and run by flower enthusiasts Rachel and Julian, they grow the prettiest blooms that are perfect for couples who want to embrace locally grown and scented British flowers.
Locally grown flowers are always full of character with wiggly stems and interesting shapes which make them a joy to work with. They are perfect for couples who want an informal look to their wedding flowers.
Tom and Lucy chose a muted pastel colour palette with pops of darker tones. Bouquets were relaxed scoops full of mint, sweet peas, dahlias, larkspur and alliums all gathered together with silk and satin ribbons.
We kept all the flower displays natural and informal. The entrance and windowsills in their church were filled with rows of flower filled bottles and jars.
Following their church ceremony we moved all the flowers to their marquee in the grounds of the gorgeous Eggington House. The scent quickly filled the huge space. Jars were scattered over the guest tables. And we went to town with the top table. Lots of flower filled bottles and jars were interspersed with potted herbs and foliage garlands.
The piece de resistance was Lucy and Tom’s floral hanging piece. The poles of the marquee were decorated with greenery garlands. Suspended between the upright poles was a huge lush greenery garland full of hanging flowers and ribbons. This fluttered gently in the gentle (and occasionally gusty!) breeze.
