Kim and David's flower story

The first time I met Kim and David was on their wedding day at their stunning venue, Aynhoe Park. They flew into the UK from Australia just a few days before, and their wedding venue was a complete surprise to their guests and Kim and David had never set foot in it before either! All of this had been beautifully planned and orchestrated by the super talented wedding planner, Vanessa from R&F Weddings.

A few months previously I had spoken to Kim via Skype about her flowers and she told me that she wanted bright, vibrant blooms in tones of burgundy and red with pops of pale pink. Her favourite flower was an orchid and she had a few orchid plants dotted around her apartment.

We decided to go quite funky and luxe with the flowers. Lots of peonies, roses, orchids and jasmine with plenty of greenery and ferns were used. Bouquets had a high petal count and everything was super tactile. A bouquet you want to squish and stroke is always a good thing!

Kim also wanted a statement flower piece where their ceremony was to take place. When I met Vanessa from R&F weddings on a cold and wintry site visit we went straight outside to the ceremony area. And what a ceremony area. Kim and David had decided to get married underneath a huge old tree complete with a hanging disco ball. All it needed to make it super luxe was a garland of flowers wound up and around it. So that is exactly what we did. A gorgeous winding garland of roses, viburnum, stock, amaranthus and greenery.

We kept the flowers in the reception simple and elegant. Large glass vases were filled with peonies and roses and placed in the centre of each guest table.
